Domestic Violence and Abuse (DVA) Community Training School
​
Galeforce developed the Domestic Violence and Abuse (DVA) Community Training School to empower and educate women and men, same sex couples that have been through or who are in abusive relationships.
The school welcomes men and women, same sex couples to benefit from practical ways to improve or address their current relationship(s) situations and meet their needs.
The training School delivers training to liberate, inspire and educate men and women on all forms of violence and abuse and equip them with the knowledge and understanding to transform their lives.
All modules are endorsed by Galeforce and certificates are awarded by Galeforce DVA Community Training School.

Who should attend this course?

This course is for professionals and practitioners in the fields of housing, health, social care, education, culture, support services and religious faith institutions that come into contact with families, children and adults.

What is the course about?
​
The course looks at how to identify the signs of abuse that cause harm, damage emotions, disempowerment, trauma, spiritual abuse and dehumanisation in close and intimate relationships. It critically examines, educates, raises awareness and understanding of how to empower and help those affected by a controlling and unhealthy relationship.

You will gain valuable in-depth knowledge and understanding of how to identify abuse, and effectively implement safety measures, spiritual awareness and current legislation to abusive situations and develop the skills required to critically analyse and support those in need by applying early intervention, social conscience and prevention strategies.

What is confidence building?
This lesson will look at ways to improve your self-esteem and explore inner skills, qualities and interests.
You will learn/acquire skills of how to deal with positive and negative emotions, raise personal levels of confidence, self-esteem and well-being.

You will learn and acquire the skills in preparation for the working environment and develop the skills of how to overcome challenges and a competitive market by equipping yourself with the essential criteria.

A study of women leaders

What is leadership?
This lesson will look at how women discover themselves as and their leadership roles in a high intense study of women in leadership and academic positions.
You will learn and acquire the knowledge and skills through in-depth studies of women leaders and their journey and how to aspire and become a great leader through personal and social changes and overcome the difficulties of a patriarchal tradition/environment.

How to deal with the mental health

What is mental health?
This lesson will look at active ways to well-being and the concept of stress and how to identify changes in behaviour and early warning signs
You will learn and acquire the awareness and understanding of how to connect, keep active, give and keep learning about how to manage emotional signs of stress, personal safety and access to support and specialist services.
Duration: 6 weeks – 1 day a week
Business Opportunity
What are business and entrepreneurial ideas?
This lesson will look at how to build your business ideas and preparation leading to exploring and engaging with a business start-up plan.
You will learn and acquire the skills to assist you with the vision the business, identify the level of need, business status, financial intelligence, market research and the learning and development for your business plan.
Duration: 6 weeks – one day a week
What is love?
What are the different forms of love?
This lesson will look at the definition of love and the views, opinions, concepts and personal experiences of what we believe love is.
You will learn acquire the knowledge and understanding of what some of the cliché and ideologies that often influence affect and impact our general understanding of love in family relationships, marriage and friendships.
Duration: 6 weeks – 1 day a week
What About Us - Singing/Vocal - Dance and Drama Sessions
A programme run throughout the year including term times, summer holidays and Saturdays, offering support to children and young people from age 4-19 years old and teaching them their musical, social, well-being and life long learning skills.
6 weeks summer holidays times: 11.00am - 4.00pm
School terms times: Thursdays 4.30pm to 6.30pm
Saturday times: 12.00pm to 4.00pm
